Phra Narai Palace

            From an old ancient palace transformed in to a historical site and National Museum, Narayana Palace. Let’s go and have a look inside this palace what it  has to offer, but first you shouldn’t be in a big rush. Regarding the building structure, we can see a format of zone being clearly divided from outside the palace to the middle zone, and inner palace zone. There are still broken pieces of historical sites left to be seen in certain places of the palace itself, including some parts which are being renovated to maintain its original format.

            This palace was built by Somdej Phra Narai Maharaj in 1666 when His Majesty the King officially established Lopburi as the second capital city of Ayutthaya.  His Majesty the King frequently visited this palace and passed away inside Puttra Sawan Palace on 11th July 1689. After that the palace was left abandoned until King Rama the 4th came in and renovated i, and give a new name: Phra Narai Palace.

            Besides this historical site, seeing other things is not to be missed, such as a visit to the National Museum which display the history of the La Woe Kingdom of Lopburi, including ancient objects, which are found in this land.

            Entrance to Phra Narai Palace is situated in fornt of Sura Sak road which is approximately about 500 meters away from Phra Prang Sam Yot. Open daily from 8.30 a.m.- 4.00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Public holidays are closed. Entry fees 10 baht. Free entry for Thai citizens announced by Fine Arts Departments until further notice.
