            Kan Shrine

Lopburi consists of many sacred shrines but the central one can’t be anywhere else except the Kan Shrine. It’s forecast that in the past, or since the period of La Woe, this area was a place where Phra Prang Sam Yot is being constructed. The construction wasn’t completed, or collapsed without enough evidence of proof. But one thing for sure is that there are still broken pieces at the basement left for us to see until thesepresent days. During this period, of Somdej Phra Nara shrine was built on the top of Phra Prang basement and was renovated during the period of King Rama the 4th.

However, before being renovated, a new shrine shape was made in 1952. Inside the shrine is the statue of Chao Por Phra Kang, which is slightly the same as the statue of Vishnu Divine or Bodhisattra Loki State princess under La Woe arts. The statue of Chao Por Phra Kang originally was in a black colour, without a head, and without swords. What was missing before was added during when renovation took place. Local people flowed in to pay respects and patch gold leafts on the statue. It’s also believed that each year there are more than 100,000 people come to pay respects at the Kan Shrine. This Kan Shrine is situated in the central of Sri Sonthorn circle on Narai Maharaj road, or on the 3rd circle between the gateway to enter Lopburi city from Phaholyothin road.
